Are you the lover or the loved?

Loving someone is complicated. You’re constantly aware of the risk you’re taking, of the possible hurt to come. You also know that you could be quite happy being single. Relationships aren’t indispensable and you wouldn’t sacrifice balance and wellbeing for the sake of one. Falling in love can be intense and make you feel out of control, so you’re careful, even slightly distrustful of it. When you do fall in love, you take things slowly, sometimes taking one step forward, two steps back, but you are always sincere about how you feel. You don’t require grand gestures from your partner, but prefer quiet, discreet shows of affection. You enter into the exchange, but at a gentle pace. Perhaps you need to let go a bit. Are you really taking such a big risk? What past experiences have made you so cautious? It would be wrong to think that lust never turned into love. Sometimes we need to take a few risks in order to find true love.
