How social media creates rose-tinted memories

Scrolling through social media feeds, youโ€™ll notice that people mostly post photographs of happy events. A new study says that this could be altering our memories.

The research, by safe.co.uk, reveals over a third of us are affected by insecurities when we look through other peopleโ€™s photos on social media, with 25-34 year olds feeling the pressure most.

It found that 89 per cent of people agree they only post their best photos but, when we look back, this could be creating โ€˜false happy memoriesโ€™. The study also highlights the pressure this puts on people to live up to a potentially false idea of reality.
