Mood boost: Bath for one

If you’re feeling a little alone today, try taking a bath. As well as being relaxing and de-stressing, bathing can also help to regulate feelings of loneliness, according to new research.

‘The “coldness” of loneliness or rejection can be treated somewhat successfully through application of physical warmth,’ say the researchers at Yale University.

This is because social experiences such as love and support give us a ‘warm’ physical sensation.

‘For many people, then, taking a warm bath or shower is at least partly in the service of returning oneself to normal feelings of social warmth,' they say.
