Are you one of those people who can’t help salivating over stylish shots in recipe books, or tuck into your food without first whipping out your phone to get a quick pic for Twitter?
If that sounds like you, you’re not alone, as this weekend’s Pink Lady International Food Photographer of the Year exhibition opens in London. Launched in 2012, this year the competition attracted 70 per cent more entries from both amateurs and professionals across the world. It also has several new categories, including one in aid of Action Against Hunger, for images of food taken on mobiles, as well as Food Off The Press, for photographs previously published in books or magazines. Judges were a panel of well-known food industry personalities, among them Antonio Carluccio, James Martin and Prue Leith, along with food photographers Ellen Silverman and David Loftus.
It might give you some ideas if you’d like to enter next year. Just don’t blame us if you end up hungry afterwards…
The Pink Lady® International Food Photographer of the Year 2013 Exhibition is free entry and takes place at the Mall Galleries, London SW1 5BD from 24-28 April, pinkladyfoodphotographeroftheyear.com
